SKILLET LATTICE APPLE PIE
Growing up in Corbin, Kentucky we regularly delighted in apple focused desserts, since we had plenty of apple trees. We were treated to delicious from-scratch apple pies prepared by mom, granny, and Aunt Marie. We still feel that if it’s not homemade, we really are not interested! Once you have made this recipe, you’ll understand why we don’t care for store-bought pies!
This Skillet Lattice Apple Pie is not just gorgeous, it’s also scrumptious. This is a recipe that uses our Homemade Pie Crust as its foundation, and when finished it will turn heads.

INGREDIENTS FOR OUR HOMEMADE APPLE PIE RECIPE
- 2 –Homemade Pie Crust
- Apples – peeled, cored, and sliced.
- Pie Crusts
- Lemon Juice
- Sanding Sugar
HOW TO MAKE OUR LATTICE PIE
Grease a 10” skillet and place 1 pie crust in it and crimp the crust top.
Prepare your apples, by peeling, coring, and slicing them into 1/4 inch thick wedges.
Place apple slices in a large mixing bowl.
Drizzle with lemon juice.
Add sugar, flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
Toss to coat.
Transfer coated apple slices into the pie crust in skillet.
Take the remaining pie crust and cut into strips for the lattice.
Remove every other strip and use them to basketweave the strips.
Transfer the basketweave lattice to the top of the pie.
Beat an egg in a small dish.
Brush lattice top with egg wash.
Sprinkle lattice with sanding sugar.
Dust with remaining sanding sugar.
Bake for 40 minutes until the crust is browned.

- 2 Pie Crusts
- 8 apples peeled cored and sliced
- 1 tsp Lemon Juice
- 1 cup Sugar
- 1/2 cup Flour
- 2 tsp Cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp Nutmeg
- 1 Egg
- 1/4 cup Sanding Sugar
- Grease a 10" skillet.
- Place 1 pie crust in prepared skillet and crimp top.
- Preheat oven to 400.
- Place apple slices in a large bowl.
- Drizzle with lemon juice.
- Add sugar, flour, cinnamon and nutmeg.
- Toss to coat.
- Transfer coated apple slices to pie crust in skillet.
- Take remaining pie crust and cut into strips.
- Remove every other strip and use them to basketweave the strips.
- Transfer to the top of the pie.
- Beat egg in small dish.
- Brush lattice top with egg wash.
- Sprinkle lattice with sanding sugar.
- Dust with sanding sugar.
- Bake for 40 minutes, until crust is browned.
