Depression Wacky Cake is a warm and surprisingly delicious chocolate cake made without the use of both eggs and butter. This recipe is a classic recipe that is not only easy on the ingredients but quick to make and great for a treat or for tonight's dessert.
Old Fashioned Wacky Cake
The reason for the cake's odd name comes from its origins in The Great Depression hence how it gets its nickname as the Depression Cake. As for the cakes' other name, Wacky Cake, it comes from its lack of key ingredients in most cakes and how the ingredients are used in such a wacky way. The allure of a Wacky Cake isn't just its cheaper cost to make but its delicious taste and timeless appeal.
Some of the main reasons why you would want to make a Wacky Cake may vary though a lot of people are attracted to this classic for its cost-effective approach to a cake. You could also enjoy the ways you can make the cake your own little recipe by changing its toppings by adding fruits, nuts, your own glaze, frosting or you could keep the recipe the way it is with its classic powdered sugar topping. As stated earlier this cake is also quick to make, preparations are fast and minimal dishes are used which helps to cut down on dishes you have to wash and with the time you save you could choose to make another Depression Cake if you would like an easy layered cake.
