Being from Corbin, KY, and raising chickens, our menu revolved around chicken-based meals. When chicken is being served the one thing you need is an excellent Chicken Gravy. We loved it when we had whipped potatoes covered with homemade gravy. Now that’s our idea of comfort food.

INGREDIENTS FOR HOMEMADE CHICKEN GRAVY
- Chicken pan drippings
- Onion Powder
- Garlic Powder
- Chicken Stock
- Concentrated Broth/Stock if needed or desired
HOW TO MAKE QUICK CHICKEN GRAVY RECIPE
Add 1 tablespoon of butter to skillet with chicken drippings (grease).
When melted and hot, blend into the skillet the 2 tablespoons of flour, press down and blend into a paste to produce a rue.
Cook rue for several minutes.
Add ½ tsp Onion Powder, and ¼ tsp Garlic Powder and continue to blend.
Gradually whisk in the 1 cup Chicken Broth Chicken with the rue and bring to a liquid.
Raise temperature to medium high and bring to a boil.
Simmer 5 minutes over medium heat until gravy thickens.
Add chicken broth to desired thickness.
Add salt and pepper to desired taste.
Add Concentrated Broth or Stock to reach desired chicken flavor.

- 2+ tbsp Chicken Pan Drippings or Butter
- 2+ tbsp Flour
- 1/2 tsp Onion Powder
- 1/4 tsp Garlic Powder
- 1 tsp Chicken Base or Concentrated Chicken Broth optional
- 1 cup Chicken Broth
- Salt & Pepper to taste
- In a skillet over medium heat, add chicken drippings and butter.
- When melted and hot, add flour and press down to saturate and cook flour into a paste.
- Add onion powder and garlic powder and stir to incorporate.
- Gradually add chicken stock while whisking.
- Keep whisking until thickened.
- You can add chicken base of concentrated stock to increase chicken flavor.
- Salt and pepper to taste.
