Southern Macaroni and Cheese is a creamy, gooey, delicious side cooked in a cast iron skillet. This is the picture-perfect Southern Macaroni and Cheese baked with three cheeses and browned to perfection!
SOUTHERN MACARONI AND CHEESE
Being from Corbin, KY, we were always served up “Southern Comfort Food”, but that was before it got its fancy title. Southern Macaroni and Cheese was constantly at the head of our list. It was always super creamy, and the top had those browned peaks that looked fantastic… it was like it was screaming for you to eat it. We always fought to try and steal all the browned toasted cheese on the top. It was so bad that our mom wouldn’t allow us kids to serve ourselves.
If we are forced to eat boxed or frozen mac & cheese, we get the frozen Stouffer’s brand over all the others and even prefer it to the “homemade” versions at restaurants. Once you’ve discovered an excellent homemade Southern Macaroni and Cheese, nobody's measures up. Using the larger noodles, three creamy cheeses, and the other ingredients, it creates a flavor that you can’t buy anywhere. The look is breathtaking… cheesy with that perfect golden color, nothing comes close! Try this recipe following our directions and you’ll see why it’s clearly worth the effort.
Our Southern Macaroni and Cheese is not just beautiful to look at, the flavor is rich, and creamy. This is a recipe that will be a huge hit for the holidays and blends perfectly with nearly any dish. Enjoy it with Fried Fish and Tarter Sauce!
The presentation of this mac & cheese dish served in a cast iron skillet is impressive. This will be your perfect Mac & Cheese Recipe!
