Southern Style Beans with Potatoes
Being from Corbin, Kentucky, we regularly had the pleasure of Southern Green Beans and Potatoes. Our garden was filled with both, so it was a staple on our table. Southern green beans is a slow process to prepare. They're easy to make, but the beans MUST cook for a couple of hours to allow them to become tender. Like most southern folks, we treasure the times when we get real homecooked food prepared in cast iron like granny made. I know people love their pressure cookers, but there is something so special about the old ways! When folks see you bringing this "old cast iron family dish", they know that they were worth the investment! This is a dish that can cause a flood of memories from the past. For my brother and I, that means thoughts of being in Granny’s kitchen!
