Pulled Pork

Homemade Pulled Pork begins with a Pork Butt that is trimmed and rubbed with our Pork Rub. The rub used in this recipe is a basic combination of sweet and light heat. The pork rub is the key to elevating flavor in our Pork Butt. This is always a huge hit with family and friends!

Ingredients

  • 7-8 lb Pork Butt
  • Pork Rub
  • 3-4 tbsp Lard
  • 1 cup Water

Instructions

  • Trim excess layer of fat from pork butt.
  • Rub all sides of pork butt with rub.
  • Refrigerate a allow to marinate several hours.
  • Heat lard in dutch oven over medium high heat.
  • Cook on all sides until seared and browned.
  • Preheat oven to 300.
  • Add water to dutch oven.
  • Cover and cook 5-6 hours until meat falls apart.
  • Transfer to meat platter. Reserve liquid in dutch oven.
  • Pull apart with forks.
  • Discard bones and large pieces of fat.
  • If meat is too dry add some of liquid from dutch oven back to the meat.
