Skillet Wilted Lettuce is a fresh and tasty uniquely southern dish made in a cast iron skillet. This homemade fried lettuce and green onion treat is a walk off the beaten path.

Ingredients

  • 6 slices Bacon
  • 7 oz Leaf Lettuce
  • 4 Green Onions
  • Salt and Pepper to taste
  • Lemon Juice optional

Instructions

  • Wash and dry lettuce. Set aside.
  • Cut bacon into bite size pieces.
  • Cook in skillet over medium high heat until crispy.
  • Remove bacon from skillet and set aside.
  • Reduce heat to medium.
  • Slice green onions.
  • Rough chop lettuce.
  • Add onions and lettuce to skillet
  • Stir until mixture is wilted and tender.
  • Season with salt and pepper.
  • Add a squirt of lemon juice if desired.
