Apple Cobbler

Skillet Apple Cobbler is a Southern Classic made in a cast iron skillet. This homemade apple dessert is a Fall Favorite that everybody loves. We chose to offer this recipe as a “solution” to an earlier video we attempted that was a FAIL in our opinion.

Ingredients

  • 1 stick Butter
  • 8 Granny Smith Apples
  • 2 ¼ cup All Purpose Flour divided
  • 2 cup Brown Sugar
  • 4 tsp Cinnamon divided
  • ½ tsp Nutmeg
  • 1 ½ cup Sugar
  • 3 tsp Baking Powder
  • ¾ tsp Salt
  • 2 cup Milk

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350.
  • Place butter in 12" skillet and place in oven until melted. Remove from oven and set aside.
  • Core, peel and slice apples and place in large bowl.
  • Add ¼ cup flour, brown sugar, 2 teaspoons cinnamon and nutmeg to apples. Mix until well coated.
  • In another large bowl, whisk together remaining flour, sugar, remaining cinnamon, baking powder and salt until blended.
  • Pour in milk slowly while whisking
  • Pour batter into skillet over melted butter.
  • Pour apple mixture over batter.
  • Bake 55-60 minutes until golden brown.
  • If edges start to get too dark, use aluminum foil to keep edges from getting overdone.
