Southern Macaroni and Cheese is a creamy, gooey, delicious side cooked in a cast iron skillet. This is the picture-perfect Southern Macaroni and Cheese baked with three cheeses and browned to perfection!

Ingredients

  • 1 lb American Cheese divided
  • 8 oz Cheddar Cheese divided
  • 8 oz Pepper Jack Cheese divided
  • 14 oz Evaporated Milk
  • 8 oz Heavy Cream
  • ½ tsp Onion Powder
  • ½ tsp Garlic Powder
  • ½ tsp Paprika
  • Salt and Pepper to taste
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 lb Elbow Macaroni cooked and drained

Instructions

  • Cook macaroni according to box directions, drain and set aside.
  • Grease a large skillet and set aside.
  • Preheat oven to 350.
  • Shred all cheeses and set aside.
  • In a large bowl, add evaporated milk and cream.
  • Add spices (including salt and pepper)and whisk to combine.
  • Whisk together, taste and add additional seasoning if needed.
  • Add eggs and beat to combine.
  • Reserve ¼ of all the cheeses for topping and add the rest to the liquid.
  • Stir to combine.
  • Add macaroni and toss to coat.
  • Transfer to prepared skillet and top with remaining cheese.
  • Bake for 45-55 minutes until top is bubbly and browned.
